4th Graduation Ceremony of the Neapolis University in Cyprus

The fourth graduation ceremony of Neapolis University in Cyprus, took place on Friday September 16 2016, at the ‘Coral Beach’ hotel with 330 graduates.

The official ceremony started with a musical program and the Academic staff attendance. Greetings were given on behalf of the Minister of Education by the General Manager Mrs. Aigli Pantelaki.

Mrs. Pantelaki said that ‘‘tonight’s ceremony is an important moment since with it the academic year 2015 – 2016 comes officially to an end and is given to society a new team οf qualified scientists, as a result of intensive work and cooperation between the professors and the students of the University”. In addition she said that “there should be given congratulations to the administration, the staff and the students of Neapolis University, because they accomplished to fill a huge gap which existed in Paphos, because of the absence of academic institutes.

This gap was the one that the founder and President of the University Mr. Michalakis Leptos wanted to fill, by giving the chance to Paphos to ‘breath’ knowledge, culture and research. Today the youth of Paphos has the ability to gain a high-level University education, without having to move away from their residence area.

At the same time, Neapolis University manages to attract students from the rest cities of Cyprus, Greece and other countries.

The President of the Council of the University Mr. Michalakis G. Leptos, gave his regards to the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos, the President of the Right Party (DISI), Averof Neophytou, the former president of the Parliament Giannakis Omirou, the former president of the Parliament of the United Kingdom communities Lady Betty Boothroyd and the entrepreneur Sotiris Hadjiminas, thanking them for their support to the University’s efforts.

Addressing both the undergraduate and postgraduate student, Mr. Leptos said “You are the new force to the development, the innovation and excellence. The hope for the regeneration of our place”.

Neapolis University in Cyprus according to Mr. Leptos is recognized by many international organizations in Greece and abroad. It cooperates with the ‘Erasmus’ program, it has a protocol of cooperation with the University of Athens, it has scheduled cooperation with British universities and a cooperation with Peloponnese University as well.

“Neapolis University is in a dynamic way of development and promotion of international cooperation and attraction of new foreign students”.

At the same time, it has announced the establishment of new schools and departments, the introduction of new programs in Mechanical Engineering, Nutrition, Physical Education Sciences, health and tourism studies.

During the ceremony Mr. Leptos and the Rector of Neapolis University, Professor Spyros Makridakis, honored the emeritus professor Nikos Zacharopoulos, by awarding him the Honorary Plaque. Mr. Zacharopoulos pioneered the establishment of the Postgraduate Program in Theological Studies of Neapolis University and contributed as Deputy Dean in the solution of Administrative Affairs of the University.

The General Attorney of the Republic Mr. Kostas Kliridis, the Dean of Law School Professor Antonis Manitakis, Former Minister of the Hellenic Republic and the President of the Council Mr. Michalakis Leptos, handed the degree to the graduate Mayor of Pafos Mr. Phedonas Phedonos.

Neapolis University Pafos, continues dynamically its development, integrating to its resume, world known and respected University Professors, as well as new innovative programs of studies, as the undergraduate and postgraduate program in Informatics, the postgraduate program in History, the programs of Law, Architecture, Business and Psychology, which for there is a great interest.

The Graduation Ceremony was watched by the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos, the General Attorney of the Republic Mr. Kostas Kliridis, the President of the Right Party (DISI) Mr. Averof Neophytou, the General Manager of the Ministry of Education Mrs. Aigli Pantelaki, the members Mr. Kostas Konstantinou, Charalambos Pittokopitis and Elias Myrianthous, the Mayor of Pafos, Polis and Peyia, the Bishop of Mesaoria Gregorios, the former President of the House of Representatives Mr. Giannakis Omirou, the former President of the Parliament of the United Kingdom communities Lady Boothroyd, the President of the Cyprus Bar Association, the prefect of Pafos and many other important guests, friends and families of the graduates.
