Dr. Maria-Effraimia Gerasopoulou has been an attorney at law since 2013. In 2021 she qualified and was accredited as a Supreme Court attorney. In 2011 she graduated from the School of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She continued with her postgraduate studies in the same School of Law whence she received her LL.M. in Civil Law, Civil Procedural Law and Labour Law in 2015. In-between, she worked for the European Patent Office at the Dep. Institutional and General Legal Matters in Munich, Germany. In July 2020 she was awarded her Doctoral Degree (PhD) from the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the grade “excellent”, for which she had received a scholarship from the State Scholarship Foundation. The subject of her thesis in the field of Civil Law was “The legal framework of the Civil Union”. She has been a panelist or main speaker in several congresses and her scientific articles have been published in legal journals. Since 2017 she has been a teaching assistant of the course “Medical Negligence in a multidisciplinary approach” within the IPPS “Contemporary Medical Acts: Legal Regulation and Bioethical Dimension” by the Departments of Medical School and School of Dentistry as well as by the School of Law and the School of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In addition, as of the spring semester 2022 she is teaching “Family Law” and “Medical Law” as a visiting Academician withing the undergraduate program of the Law School of Neapolis University Pafos. Her main areas of practice are Labour Law, Disciplinary law and Health law with great experience in medical malpractice cases. She is also an accredited DPO executive.
