Dr. Marios Panagiotis Efthymiopoulos is Associate Professor of International Security and Strategy and Head of Department of History, Politics and International Studies.
He is also the in charge of Strategy International (SI) Ltd -consulting and think tank.
Past affiliations include:
Former Dean of the College of Security and Global Studies at the American University in the Emirates, in Dubai.
At the federal level UAE, he worked at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research in Abu Dhabi.

Early on, his career started as a visiting lecturer at the University of Cyprus. Dr. Efthymiopoulos has or had also an advisory role through several positions among others, in the USA, UAE, Cyprus and Greece.
Dr. Efthymiopoulos is a graduate of the Senior Course 105 and PfP of the NATO Defense College (2004-2005) and takes today part in various discussions, both as a participant and a key invited speaker at ESDC level of the EU, training courses, through the Defense Academy of the Republic of Cyprus.
He has been awarded his PhD from the University of Crete in Greece, from the Political Science Department, specializing in NATO’s New Strategic Concept and NATO-Russia Relations.
A Masters from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna/University of Vienna in Advanced International Studies
A BA(Hons) In International Relations and Politics from the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside, In the UK.
He is writing his new book titled, “Falkon’s Maze on Cyber-Security” by Springer, New York.
Co-Author and senior editor of a new book (Efthymiopoulos & Masouras) Security and Strategy Models for Key-Solving Institutional Frameworks by IGI, To be published in 2025.
He subject editor of the newly started Encyclopedia of European Studies by Thomas Hoerber (Et.all), by Routledge on Theories and Concepts of European Integration section. (To be published 2025 onwards and constantly updated).
