Ph.D. Program in Psychology
CALL FOR INTEREST IN THE PHD PROGRAMME IN PSYCHOLOGY
Neapolis University Pafos publishes the call for three (3) positions for a PhD in Psychology, and specifically in the topics of Clinical, Counselling, Cognitive, Experimental, Educational, Developmental Psychology or Neuropsychology.
The call is addressed to holders of a degree in Psychology or relevant scientific fields awarded by universities recognized by the Republic of Cyprus, who also hold a Master’s degree.
Along with the online application, the applicants should also submit the following documents, as PDF files:
- Research proposal
- Undergraduate and postgraduate (Masters) degrees
- CV (example of a CV template can be found in the following web address: http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/documents/curriculum-vitae/templates-instructions)
- Two recommendation letters
- Portfolio (research work / publications / supporting material)
- Certificate of foreign languages (preferably English) (I.E.L.T.S score 5.5 or above, TOEFL score 513 or above).
All the documents (original or official translation) should be in Greek or English.

Applications submitted in any other way will not be assessed. Incomplete applications will also be excluded.
The applicants should pay attention to the research proposal for their Doctoral Thesis because it is one of the most important criteria for his/her assessment. They are also encouraged to review the research interests of the faculty members of the Psychology Department, which can be found in their CVs on the University’s webpage, before submitting their application. Applicants can contact any member of the faculty for additional help and guidance before submitting their application or before finishing their research proposal.
Example of research topics of particular interest for the Department are research proposals on Body Image, Eating Disorders, Visual Perception, Contextual, Semantic and Action Effects on Visual Perception, Therapy and Prevention of Psychosocial problems, Positive Psychology, Social Aspects of Mental Health, Development of Sociocognitive Processes, their Educational Consequences and their Impact in the Development of Political Ideology, Support of Children with Special Educational Needs, Multicultural Education, Developmental Path of Cognitive and Linguistic Skills in Children, Violence and Delinquency.
The applications will be assessed by the Committee comprising of the faculty members of the School of Psychology. Apart from the quality of the research proposal, the Committee will take into account the applicant’s profile, which will be assessed based on the following:
- undergraduate and postgraduate grades
- other degrees
- publications and conference talks/posters
- scholarships, awards and distinctions
All candidates with a positive assessment of the criteria above will be invited at the second phase of the selection, which will be an interview.
The candidates who will be accepted for the Programme of Doctoral Studies will have to send a letter of acceptance via e-mail within 15 days of the offer made by the University. Applicants who respond positively commit to conforming to the rules and regulations outlined in the Programme of Doctoral Studies.
