The overall theme of the event was “Information – Shield, Sword and Achilles Heel in the fight against economic crime?”
Money launderers and terrorist financers abuse the financial system by taking advantage of the freedom of capital movements and the freedom to supply financial services. Effective anti-money laundering controls have particular relevance to the safety and soundness of the economic system, in that they help to protect the country’s reputation by reducing the likelihood of companies becoming a vehicle or a victim of money laundering. The procedure to combat money laundering involves many parties and different areas of professionals as bankers, accountants, auditors, tax advisor and lawyers.
