Elections in the Occupied Territories of Cyprus – Initial Reflections

The Department of History, Politics and International Studies of Neapolis University Pafos is organising an open online event on Monday, 1 December 2025, at 19:30, titled “Elections in the Occupied Territories of Cyprus: Initial Reflections”, with Assistant Professor Nikos Christofis as the invited speaker. The event will be held online via Microsoft Teams.

The discussion will focus on the initial assessments following the recent elections in the Turkish Cypriot community, highlighting social trends, political dynamics, and potential implications for the future of the Cyprus question and regional stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The speaker, Nikos Christofis, is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Language and Intercultural Studies at the University of Thessaly. He also serves as adjunct faculty at the Hellenic Open University and as a research affiliate at the Netherlands Institute at Athens (NIA). His extensive academic work includes publications in Greek, English, Turkish, Chinese, and Spanish, with more than seventy articles and book chapters, sixteen edited volumes and one monograph. He is also the editor of the series Mediterranean Politics (Transnational Press) and New Directions in Turkish Studies (Berghahn Books).
