When we are discussing terrorism today, we cannot avoid the threat and challenges of “lone actors”. It is another approach to terrorist operational activity that concerns not just the theoretics of terrorism, but also all those dealing in various levels with countering the phenomenon. The presentation will explain the debate and difficulties around the concept of “lone actors”, focusing on practical aspects in the framework of criminal justice. Practitioners from law enforcement and the legal (judges, prosecutors, lawyers etc) as well as the medical profession are the main target audience, as they will be informed about issues regarding the modus operandi, the offences perpetrated, investigation procedure problems and mental health and culpability problems arising. Yet the subject is of interest to anyone following the trends in research of terrorism, as it will also touch upon digital trails, age and gender.
