Neapolis University Pafos to Co-Host Pafos Coders & Designers Meetup on “Demystifying LLMs”

02/10 - 02/10 @ 19:00 - 21:00

Neapolis University Pafos (NUP), in collaboration with the local Pafos Coders & Designers community, is proud to host the upcoming Pafos Coders & Designers Meetup on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 19:00 to 21:00 EEST, at the Keryneia Amphitheatre on the NUP campus.

The event will bring together students, academics, developers, and designers for an evening dedicated to Large Language Models (LLMs), the technology powering widely used AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Attendees will gain both conceptual understanding and practical insights into how these systems are designed and deployed.

The featured talk, titled “Demystifying LLMs,” will be delivered by Richard Churchman and will provide a practical overview of modern AI, tracing the evolution of neural networks into today’s LLMs. It will explain concepts such as tokens, context, embeddings, vector similarity, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), while also addressing advanced methods including function calling and reasoning. Deployment challenges will be explored through a comparison of CPUs, GPUs, integrated GPUs, and cloud endpoints versus self-hosted solutions. The session will conclude with a realistic roadmap for adoption, showing how cost-effective AI pipelines can be built for applications such as chatbots and compliance evaluation, while highlighting both opportunities and challenges.

The evening underscores NUP’s commitment to supporting the local tech ecosystem and fostering collaboration between academia and industry. By hosting these community meetups, the University helps translate emerging technologies into practice while encouraging dialogue and innovation.

The session will be held in English.

Registration is required via Meetup: https://www.meetup.com/pafos-coders-designers/events/311119274/. If “Join Waitlist” appears, approvals will follow shortly.
