The Department of History, Politics and International Studies of Neapolis University Pafos announces the organisation of an open online event titled “Exploring Art, Trauma, and Resilience in the Middle East”, which will take place on Monday, 24 November 2025, at 19:30 via Microsoft Teams.
The webinar will explore the dynamic intersection of art, trauma, and cultural resilience in the contemporary Middle East, highlighting how artistic expression can serve as a medium for healing, resistance, and redefinition of identity in contexts of displacement and conflict.
The event will feature two distinguished speakers: Raya Matta, a Lebanese-Greek visual artist, and Sanaz Nazemi Agha, Iranian art entrepreneur and founder of The Gallery 45. Both speakers bring unique perspectives on how creativity and culture can foster resilience and bridge diverse communities through dialogue and innovation.
The discussion will be coordinated by Dr. Eleni Gavriil, Lecturer in International Economic Law and Human Rights and Coordinator of the BA in International Relations and Security, and Dr. Zakia Aqra, Lecturer in International Relations and Foreign Policy and Coordinator of the MA in International Relations, Strategy and Security.
This initiative reflects Neapolis University Pafos’s commitment to promoting interdisciplinary dialogue, cross-cultural understanding, and creative approaches to global challenges.
