Aleksey Komissarov is a computational biologist and AI researcher based in Berlin. He holds a Ph.D. in Genomics and has led research groups and master’s programs in applied genomics and AI. His research in comparative genomics focuses on satellite DNA, tandem repeats, and chromosome-level genome assemblies. In parallel, he explores the intersection of genomics and natural language processing — applying tokenization methods to genomic sequences and developing evaluation frameworks for multilingual language models. His current interests include multi-agent systems, emergent communication in LLM-based agents, and their applications in both life sciences and social sciences. He teaches courses on AI-assisted programming and genome bioinformatics.
