Dr. Moisis Sidiropoulos is a Professor of Economics. He holds a Doctorate in Economics from the Louis Pasteur University of Strasbourg (Doctorat d’Etat) where he studied with a scholarship from the French government. His areas of interest are macroeconomic analysis and monetary theory and policy. His teaching interests focus on macroeconomic analysis, monetary and fiscal policy, and policy in both closed and open economies and in a monetary union. He has taught at universities both in Greece (such as the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Democritus University of Thrace, the Hellenic Open University) and abroad (such as the University of Strasbourg in France, the University of Virginia in USA, the Neapolis University of Paphos in Cyprus). He has published approximately 75 scientific articles in reputable scientific journals and his current research interests are focussed in the field of both theoretical and empirical analysis in macroeconomics and monetary and fiscal policy in a monetary union. He has supervised 16 doctoral theses. He was honoured with the Medal of the University of Strasbourg for his contribution to teaching and research and was awarded by the Rectors of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) with the Excellence in Teaching Award. Finally, he was selected among the symbolic recipients of the Award Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the European Union in 2012 for promoting peace, reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe.
