Visiting Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Signal Processing
Dr. Eng. Pantelis Tzamalis obtained his diploma from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the Polytechnic School of the University of Patras, from where he also received his master’s and doctoral degrees. He is a postdoctoral fellow at the Internet of Things Laboratory (IoT-Lab) of the Department and Head of the Artificial Intelligence of Things Group of the Laboratory. At various stages of his career, he has participated as an engineering manager, senior research engineer, technical manager, and senior software engineer in various European and nationally funded projects, as well as in projects funded directly by the industry. In the past, he has also signed a contract with Google LLC in the framework of GSoC 2019 & 2020, and since then, he has been maintaining two open source products related to an integrated AI infrastructure for audio analysis, as well as an automated software version reporting tool from Bug Tracking Systems that integrates natural language processing. Furthermore, he has contributed significantly to the research and development of efficient algorithms related to Artificial Intelligence modeling, Neural Network design, data processing, and Explainable AI, regarding problems including Audio Analysis and Human Activity Recognition using sensor data. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), Time Series Analysis, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Health, Crowdsensing & Crowdsourcing, Big Data Analytics, and MLOps, while he has actively contributed to the development of open source software. Finally, he has co-authored publications and served as a reviewer in international conference proceedings and scientific journals (e.g., IEEE, Springer).
