CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST: PSYCHOLOGY PHD PROGRAMME

Neapolis University in Cyprus publishes the call for three (3) PhD in Psychology positions in either Clinical, Counselling, Cognitive, Experimental, Educational, Developmental Psychology or Neuropsychology.

The call addresses holders of either a Psychology and/or other pertinent Master Degree awarded through universities recognized by the Republic of Cyprus.

In addition to the online application, applicants must also submit the following documents in PDF format:

  1. Research Proposal
  2. Undergraduate (Bachelor) and Graduate (Masters) Degrees
  3. A CV*
  4. Two Letters of Recommendation
  5. Portfolios containing research work / publications / supporting material
  6. Certificate of Foreign Languages Proficiency, preferably English (I.E.L.T.S score 5.5 or above, TOEFL score 513 or above).

Supporting documents must be originals and/or official translations (in either Greek or English)

Incomplete and/or Applications submitted by other means will not be assessed.

Applicants are encouraged to pay specific attention to their Doctoral Thesis research proposals, it being one of the most important assessment criteria. Prior to submitting applications, applicants are encouraged to review Faculty research interests found within their CVs on the Faculty’s website. Prior to submitting applications or establishing research proposals, applicants may contact faculty members for additional guidance and assistance.

Examples of some of the Department’s research interests are: Body Image, Eating Disorders, Visual Perception, Contextual, Effects of Semantic and Actions on Visual Perception, Therapy and Prevention of Psychosocial problems, Positive Psychology, Social Aspects of Mental Health, Development of Sociocognitive Processes and its Impact on Academic outcomes and the Development of Political Ideology, support for Children with Special Educational Needs, Multicultural Education, Developmental Path of Cognitive and Linguistic Skills in Children, and Violence & Delinquency.

Applications will be assessed by a Committee comprised of faculty members from the School of Psychology. In addition to the quality of an applicant’s research proposal, the Committee appraises an applicant’s profile based on the following criteria:

  • undergraduate and graduate academic scores
  • other academic qualifications
  • publications and/or conference talks/posters
  • scholarships, awards and distinctions

Suitable candidates will be invited to the second phase of the selection process, the personal interview. Candidates admitted to the Programme of Doctoral Studies must make their acceptance known, via e-mail within 15 days from their official acceptance by the University. Upon acceptance, Applicants subsequently agree to abide by rules and regulations outlined in the official documentation of the Programme of Doctoral Studies.
