International Visit of ERUA Alliance Universities to Neapolis University Pafos

On Tuesday, 4 November 2025, Neapolis University Pafos welcomed students and faculty members from universities in Poland, Germany, Italy, and Lithuania as part of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA). The visit focused on the theme “Artificial Intelligence Regulation and the Protection of Human Rights,” fostering European dialogue on the social and legal implications of emerging technologies.

The event was organised by the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence AI-2-TRACE-CRIME and the NUP Human Rights Observatory, in coordination with the European cooperation networks in which the University actively participates, including the EMERGE – European University Alliance.

During the session, Dr. Georgios Pavlidis, Associate Professor of International and European Law, Head of the Department of History, Politics and International Studies, and Director of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence AI-2-TRACE-CRIME, discussed key aspects of AI regulation at the European level. Dr. Eleni GavriIl, Lecturer in International Economic Law and Director of the NUP Human Rights Observatory, presented current challenges and developments in the field of human rights protection in Cyprus.

The visit offered a valuable opportunity for exchange between students and academics from various European institutions, promoting discussion on justice, technology, and fundamental rights. It forms part of the Department of History, Politics and International Studies’ ongoing efforts to strengthen international collaboration and enhance Neapolis University Pafos’ active role in European higher education networks.
