Neapolis University Pafos to Lead EU-funded BONDS Project

Neapolis University Pafos (NUP) announces that it has secured €250,000 in funding from the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme for the project “sustainable skills Building tOwards preveNtion and management of Delinquent behaviors at Schools” (BONDS). The project, coordinated by the Department of Psychology of Neapolis University Pafos, will run for 28 months starting on 1 November 2025. Dr. Andri Christodoulou, Lecturer in Clinical Psychology, and Dr. Marilena Mousoulidou, Assistant Professor in Cognitive Psychology, will serve as the scientific coordinators.

BONDS focus is on preventing and managing delinquent behaviours in schools through innovative training and interactive methods designed to strengthen children’s social and emotional skills. Its aim is to provide teachers with evidence-based approaches, classroom strategies, and responsive practices that encourage positive behaviour and enhance student well-being.

The consortium unites six European partners: Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University in Ukraine, Scoala Gimnaziala Ion Luca Caragiale in Romania, Asociación Benéfico Social de Formación e Inserción en el Belén de Huelva Nuevos Horizontes in Spain, the Pedagogical Institute of Cyprus, Xenios Polis – Culture, Science and Action in Greece, and Tendências e Argumentos, Lda in Portugal. Together they will develop research methodologies, create intervention guides and teacher recognition frameworks, and design digital resources including an e-learning platform, podcasts, storytelling tools, and an educational game. Practical training will also be delivered through workshops, webinars, and impact assessments, with results and resources disseminated through dedicated communication channels.

The project’s outputs will include a comprehensive educational package for teachers, research-based training to guide the implementation of positive behaviour support systems, and resources promoting social-emotional learning. BONDS will also provide ongoing professional development opportunities and recognition for teachers, while ensuring accessibility for the broader school community.

By equipping educators with the necessary tools and knowledge, BONDS aims to foster healthier school environments, reduce delinquent behaviours, and enhance the overall well-being of students across Europe. Coordinating this project reflects Neapolis University Pafos’ growing role as a hub for research, innovation and international collaboration, and reaffirms its commitment to advancing academic excellence and addressing contemporary social challenges.
