“Olivewood”, the incentive plan to promote Cyprus as a filming location, was launched on Tuesday, October 9th in Nicosia in an effort to attract investment from the international filming industry. The first ever Cyprus Film Summit was organized by Invest Cyprus, the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO), and the Republic of Cyprus Press and Information Office (PIO). The summit saw a participation of over 120 delegates including producers and directors from Hollywood, Pinewood, and Bollywood.
Present at the summit, Mr Jason Georgiades, Director of the Master’s programme in Digital Video Production (DVP) at Neapolis University in Cyprus, informed delegates on the university’s intention to support the future productions with highly-qualified local talent emerging from this unique programme of studies. In addition, Mr Georgiades managed to secure invaluable internship opportunities – practical work as production assistants – for the programme’s students.
The MA in Digital Video Production is an innovative programme of studies which focuses on both practice-led and academically informed courses aiming to prepare future leaders in television and film production. The programme’s graduates can expect to land career opportunities in the extended cultural and creative industries including film, news, and television production, vlogging (video blogging), media/content platforms, and many others.
