Pandemic and Remote Placements in the Labor Market for the Students of Neapolis University in Cyprus

April 23, 2020

Neapolis University in Cyprus, in an uncertain period of changes in economic activity, business initiatives and the labor market, adapts to the emerging conditions and maintains its communication with the business world and the new working environment, which the COVID-19 pandemic brought.

While remote work is introduced and installed in our lives, Neapolis University in Cyprus, firmly focused on the integration of its graduates to the labor market and adjusted to the current and future needs of employment, is once again at the forefront of the occurring developments, proving its instant contact with the domestic and international working environment. In these circumstances, through the Student Placement Program in Businesses and Organizations, operated under the European Project “Liaison Offices with the Labor Market“, a significant number of participating students of our University, exploit the opportunity of learning how to work in a remote working environment at the, related to their studies, hosting organizations and companies, alongside their field’s professionals.

The University’s Liaison Office, through intensive and continuous communication with the cooperating companies and organizations, and the students of the School of Economics, Administration and Informatics, managed to create the standards and conditions required for both students’ successful distance integration in companies and the placement’s goals achievement.  In particular, students of the Neapolis University in Cyprus, continue to, remotely, apply the knowledge and skills received from their studies, and to offer their services to companies and organizations that, under restrictive measures, operate in new conditions. Our students responded excellently to the challenge of working remotely, with modern technology tools (professional software and customized technological equipment), specific schedules and specific roles as an organic part of a business, always under the University’s necessary supervision and without deviating from the goals of the European Project.

The immediate adaptation of our students to the challenges of distance employment seems to have created, in the midst of a pandemic crisis, a development opportunity for their professional and academic career.  This fact, also, justifies Neapolis University Pafos’ faith and investment in modern technology, its direct contact and cooperation with the business world and its future vision of investing in applied knowledge and education.
