Paphos Youth Chamber and the University gave the floor to the Cypriot Members of the European Parliament

Event with the topic “European Parliament: Myths and Realities” was organized on April 11, 2014 the Youth Chamber of Paphos (JCI Paphos) and the Neapolis University in Cyprus. The event was introduced by Makis Tsiatsios, President Paphos Youth Chamber and George Leptos, Vice-president of the Council of  Neapolis University Pafos. Introductory speech were also made by George Markopouliotis, European Commission Head in Cyprus. The main speakers were all six Members of the European Parlament who developed the following topics. Antigoni Papadopoulou on «EE: Challenges and prospects for a new era of Memoranda”. Sophocles Sophocles on “Economic crisis in the Eurozone – Unemployment and youth”. Eleni Theocharous on “Cyprus: European principles and values.” Andreas Pitsillides on “How are our everyday decisions influence by the EU Parliament.” Kyriacos Triantaphyllides on “What will consern citizens in the next European elections.” Takis Hadjigeorgiou on “Where is the European Union going? The Day After. “.

The event was coordinated by Prof. Constantinos Athanasopoulos while concluding comments were made by Dr. Spyros Vliamos, Professor of Political Economy in the National Kapodistrian University of Athens and Neapolis University Pafos. The elections in May will give voters the opportunity to influence the future political course of the European Union. The European Parliament now has more power, both influencing the political direction of Europe, and also in decisions that affect our everyday life. The responsibility of Parliament is to improve things for everyone, now and in the future. Mr. Tsiatsios assured that the Paphos Youth Chamber will contributor to the effort of young people of Paphos to develop their economic activity and thus strengthen the economy of Paphos. Mr. Letos congratulated the Paphos Youth Chamber initiative for the joint organization of the event and promised that the Neapolis University will continue to variously support such actions of the youth.
