Visit to Athens within the European program Lifelong Learning Comenius Regio Partnership

Under the heading “Teenage bullying: Prevention and treatment in school environment of Greece and Cyprus.”, the first visit for the implementation of the program took place in Athens on the 4/11/2013 to 07/11/2013. Neapolis University in Cyprus was represented by the Lecturer of Psychology Dr. Olga Solomon Kountouri and Mr. Ioannis Moshatos, officers of the Department of Marketing and Public Relations.

The First Officer of Secondary Education Paphos Mr. I. Efthimiou and o Mr. Konstantinos Prodromou also participated as well as the program coordinators Assistant Director Ms. Fini Christodoulou and the Assistant Director Giorgos Nikolaidis, who represent the third member of the collaboration, the first high school of Paphos “Archbishop Makarios III”. During the visit meetings and speeches were held on the subject of bullying with representatives of Secondary Education of the second Region of Athens with teachers of the 3rd General Lyceum of New Heraklion, professors – researchers of the Second Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens and members of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Ag. Paraskevi in Attica.

Increasing incidents of violence and intimidation in the schools and the internet make it necessary to implement measures for the study and treatment of the phenomenon. In respond to that lays the collaboration between Athens and Paphos. During the two-year of the Comenius Regio program studies will be research and various educational activities, lectures, workshops and conferences will be organized. The examples of the good resolts of this collaboration can be given to schools throughout Cyprus and Greece, with the perpose to eliminate the sad phenomenon. A visit of the collaborators from Greece will follow, in Paphos in January 2014 in the actions of the corresponding program.
