The 16th Graduation Ceremony of Neapolis University Paphos took place on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, in an atmosphere of pride, emotion and optimism for the future. The ceremony was held at the Coral Beach Hotel & Resort in Paphos.
The ceremony celebrated the impressive development of Neapolis University, now considered one of Cyprus’s leading academic institutions. Having awarded over 10,000 degrees, with 3,500 active students and more than 300 staff members, the university continues its remarkable trajectory with 43 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, which are internationally recognised and delivered in collaboration with top universities from the EU, the UK and Asia.
As part of its strategic focus on internationalisation and outreach, the university actively participates in the EMERGE European University Alliance, promoting educational innovation, regional development, and cross-border collaboration.
The event opened with a welcome address by the President of the University Council, Mr George Leptos, who congratulated the graduates and emphasised the university’s strategic path towards growth and international recognition.
“Today, Neapolis University has evolved into the most pioneering university in Cyprus, offering academic programmes that meet the needs of society and the economy while enhancing the international visibility of Paphos on the global academic map.”
This was followed by a keynote speech from the Rector of Democritus University of Thrace, Professor Fotios Maris, who discussed the significance of the new collaboration between the two institutions within the context of their shared English-language medical programme and the importance of inter-university partnerships across Europe.
“In recent years, we have consciously pursued a strategy of internationalisation and outreach, organising programmes beyond the borders of Greece. Our entire strategy can be summed up in three phrases: connecting worlds, connecting people, investing in them, and creating added value.”
The ceremony continued with representatives from the banking, legal, business and scientific sectors presenting honorary awards and distinctions to recognise students’ academic and extracurricular achievements.
The graduation ceremony concluded with an inspiring speech by Neapolis University Pafos’s Rector, Professor Pantelis Sklias, who addressed the graduates with a motivational message focusing on the importance of persistence, ambition, and high aspirations as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
“Do not lower your expectations. Do not lower the bar. Now is the time to raise it higher, to strive, to demand, and to succeed. I am convinced that Neapolis University Pafos has equipped you with all the necessary tools to thrive in today’s complex world.”
This significant milestone in academic achievement and institutional progress marks a shared vision for the future. The university would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to everyone who honoured this important day with their presence: the graduates, their families and guests, the academic community, and the distinguished attendees from the worlds of academia, business, and public life.
