Neapolis University Pafos will host a special lecture as part of the Eurochild 2026 Conference on Child Protection Systems on Monday, 15 June 2026, at 16:30, at the Kyrenia Auditorium.
The lecture will bring together delegates of the Eurochild 2026 Conference, members of child protection and welfare bodies, as well as young people aged 15-17 participating in the conference activities, creating a platform for dialogue on children’s rights, digital safety, and contemporary child protection challenges.
The lecture is coordinated by Dr Stalo Georgiou, Academic at the Department of Communication and Creativity of Neapolis University Pafos.
Opening remarks will be delivered by Dr Andreas Masouras, Associate Professor and President of the Department of Communication and Creativity, who will present the topic “Connected Kids: Thriving Safely in the Digital Age.” His presentation will explore the opportunities and challenges children face in today’s digital environment, highlighting the importance of digital literacy, online safety, and responsible engagement with technology.
The programme will also feature a presentation by Dr Eleni Gavriil, Lecturer in International Economic Law and Human Rights and Director of the Human Rights Observatory of Neapolis University Pafos. Her lecture will focus on the contribution of the European Court of Human Rights to the protection and promotion of children’s rights, examining significant judicial developments and current challenges in safeguarding children in contemporary societies.
By hosting this lecture, Neapolis University Pafos reaffirms its commitment to promoting children’s rights, human rights education, and meaningful dialogue on issues that affect young people across Europe and beyond. The lecture also highlights the University’s dedication to fostering collaboration between academia, policymakers, practitioners, and youth in addressing emerging challenges in child protection.
