Dr. Georgios Kraniotis is an Assistant Professor in Physics and Fluid Mechanics at School of Architecture, Engineering, Land and Environmental Sciences at Neapolis University Pafos (since 2026) and has been a lecturer of the International BSc Civil Engineering Programme at Baoding University of Technology, Hebei Province, China (since 2026). Dr. Kraniotis has a PhD in Theoretical Physics (1996) from the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Sussex, UK. His research fields are focused in the general theory of relativity, black hole physics, cosmology, astrophysical fluids and string theory. Dr Kraniotis has published several important and influential contributions in the field of exact solutions of general relativistic equations and their applications in extracting predictions for relativistic phenomena relevant for astrophysics and cosmology.

The interdisciplinarity of his research is especially highlighted in his work in solving in closed form complex relativistic wave equations in curved black hole backgrounds in terms of Heun functions and their generalisations.  The latter constitute a contemporary state of the art in the field of special functions of mathematical physics.

Recent highlights of Dr Kraniotis’s research include the computation of curvature invariants for accelerating, rotating, charged black holes in (anti-)de Sitter spacetime aiming at the detection of the event horizon and other relevant physical surfaces.

Dr Kraniotis has held research and teaching positions at various universities and research centres, that include University of London, University of Sussex, Humboldt University, Max Planck Institute for Physics, Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, Texas A&M University, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Hellenic Open University, University of Ioannina.

His published research over the last 30 years makes him an acknowledged world expert in the fields of gravitational physics and unified theories of physics.
