Soteria Charalambous is an academic and researcher in Finance and Economics, with teaching, research, and professional experience spanning finance, economics, insurance, and risk management. She holds a PhD in Finance from the Cyprus University of Technology, a Master’s degree in Economic Analysis from the University of Cyprus, an MSc in Insurance and Risk Management from Bayes Business School (formerly CASS Business School – City University of London), and a BSc in Economics from the University of Cyprus. Her postgraduate studies have provided her with a multidisciplinary academic background, combining knowledge and methodological approaches across a broad range of related fields.
Alongside her current appointment as a member of the Special Teaching Staff at Neapolis University Pafos, she has held several academic and research positions. From 2019 to 2026, she taught courses as a Special Scientist at the Cyprus University of Technology, within the Faculty of Management and Economics and the Faculty of Tourism Management, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship. She has also worked as a Visiting Lecturer at Neapolis University Pafos and as a Research Associate and Teaching Assistant at the University of Cyprus. Earlier in her academic career, she taught Economics and Business at CDA College.
Her research focuses primarily on empirical finance, with particular emphasis on firm-level financial risk exposure, international finance, asset pricing, sustainability, innovation, and financial market behavior under conditions of uncertainty and crisis. Her research includes studies on fuel price pass-through in Cyprus, corporate resilience and sustainable business practices, foreign currency risk among Eurozone firms, and sustainability and innovation performance.
Alongside her academic career, she has extensive professional experience in the financial services sector as an Insurance Financial Advisor. She is also a certified member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London and a Licensed Instructor of Professional Training at Level 5 of the Cyprus and European Qualifications Frameworks (CyQF/EQF), certified by the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus.
