Eugenia Vathakou is Assistant Professor of International Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Neapolis University Pafos and Local Coordinator of the EMERGE-European University Alliance on behalf of the University. She holds a PhD and an MA in International Conflict Analysis from the University of Kent, a Law degree from Democritus University of Thrace, and completed postdoctoral research at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens on conflict and violence management in accommodation facilities for unaccompanied refugee children. She is also a certified mediator of the Greek Ministry of Justice.
She has nearly two decades of university teaching experience in conflict resolution, crisis management, international relations, Greek-Turkish relations, European integration, civil society and participatory development planning, and has taught at several Greek universities.
Her research interests include conflict analysis and transformation, peace processes, Greek-Turkish relations, migration and integration, civil society and participatory dialogue.
Her professional experience spans leadership and advisory roles, including serving as CEO of the Greek NGO MERIMNA-Care for Children and Families experiencing illness and death, consulting for WHO Europe, and coordinating EU-funded and international projects. She also served as Coordinator of Greece’s National Committee for Palliative Care, which developed a Feasibility Study, five-year Strategy and Action Plan, and the legislative framework for palliative care.
Eugenia Vathakou is the author of two books and several academic articles. She has also contributed chapters to edited scholarly volumes and authored training manuals in areas related to her research interests.
