Kleanthis is a Family and Developmental Psychologist with twenty years of field experience with children, adolescents, youth, families, and schools within diverse professional roles. Alongside this extensive field experience, he obtained a PhD in Family/Developmental Psychology (cum laude; Distinction; International PhD) and a Master’s in Counselling (Distinction; Fulbright scholarship). Moreover, he obtained Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology (summa cum laude; Excellent), Education (Excellent), and Law (Excellent). Kleanthis’ scholarly work focuses on systemic reasoning, examining the psychological processes operating within families. His research aims to map the specific family dynamics that generate pathology and, conversely, health in children, adolescents, and youth. His academic teaching includes curriculum development and lecturing in modules directly and indirectly related to human development, such as General Psychology, Lifespan Development, Adolescent Psychology, Developmental Psychopathology, Educational Psychology, Counselling, Social Psychology, and Family Psychology. As a two-time Fulbright Scholar, he has published articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented his research at major international conferences. His invited academic contributions include a webinar for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (2025), a university-wide lecture series at Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania (2022), and an invited workshop at the Cyprus University of Technology (2025). Kleanthis has been elected Chair Elect (2023–2024) of the Developmental Psychology Section of the British Psychological Society, and has been honored with Associate Fellowship by the British Psychological Society and Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy. He has also convened and chaired interdisciplinary research events, most notably the British Academy Early Career Researcher Network Symposium “Exploring Research, Impact and Policy on Youth and Families” (London, 2023), which featured a keynote speaker from the University of Cambridge.
In his free time, Kleanthis enjoys Ashtanga yoga and Argentinean tango.
