Dr Salomi Papamichael is a Lecturer in Structural Mechanics in the Department of Civil Engineering at Neapolis University Pafos. In 2013 she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and in 2014 her Master’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Cyprus. During 2014 – 2015 she served as the president of the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ student chapter in Cyprus. In 2015 she was the recipient of a scholarship from the institution Stiftung zur Förderung begabter Studierender und des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses, Rheinland-Pfalz, Deutschland to carry out research for two years at the Technical University Kaiserslautern in Germany. Dr Papamichael received a scholarship from the department of Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern to continue her research, where she was awarded her PhD in 2019. She also conducted research in the frame of a German National Project namely ROBEX, where she focused on extraterrestrial soils and in-situ testing and furthermore, she collaborated with Fraunhofer ITWM, a non-profit research institute in Germany. Dr Papamichael has published articles in international peer-reviewed journals and international conference proceedings. One of her papers in the Journal Geotechnik was awarded as the top downloaded paper in 2018 – 2019 by John Wiley & Sons Inc. To date, her main research interests include topics of soil-tool interaction, terramechanics, extraterrestrial soil mechanics, in-situ testing, and finite element analysis.
