Professor of Literary Translation

Literary translator, teacher of translation, award-winning nonfiction author.

Co-founded (with Alexandra Borisenko) a translation workshop at Lomonosov Moscow State University. His book “Here Was Rome” won the Prosvetitel (Enlightenment) award in 2013, and was published in the UK, in the author’s translation, in 2017. He also wrote a children’s book “We Live in Ancient Rome.” He translated a number of novels, including works by Julian Barnes, Patricia Duncker, and Hanya Yanagihara. Winner of the Debut Prize (with Alexandra Borisenko), and Yasnaya Polyana Prize (with Patricia Duncker and Alexandra Borisenko), 2020.
