Neapolis University welcomes IAESTE students arriving in Cyprus

July 8, 2014

Our event welcoming foreign and Cypriot students participating in the educational exchange program IAESTE (THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE EXCHANGE OF STUDENTS FOR TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE) for internships was hosted on July 8, 2014 with great success.  The Cyprus National IAESTE Committee was established in 1980 and since 2011 the national program was managed by the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), which has registered the IAESTE Cyprus as a non-profit organization. During the second year, which the program is being coordinated under the authority of the CUT, there have been a total of 23 movements from 16 countries such as Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Greece, United Kingdom, Spain, Croatia, Cyprus, Belarus, Lebanon, Norway, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, and Czech Republic.

The Neapolis University in Cyprus participated in 2014 in the IAESTE program coordinated by Dr. Julia Georgi, Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture and Director of European and Research Programs. Specifically, the third year student of the School of Architecture and Geoenvironmental Sciences George Bozis works in the Ministry for Transport and Infrastructure of Malta and the third year student of the School of Architecture and Geoenvironmental Sciences, Yiannis Georgiou was accepted at the Moscow Architectural Office Manipulazione Internationale Architectural Studio.

The event began with greetings from the Secretary of the Board IAESTE Cyprus, Dr. Charalambos Chrysostomou, on behalf of the Chairman of the Board. A video presentation was then made for the purpose of becoming acquainted with all the students. The evening continued with a cultural insert from the Limassol Folklore Group, while all the participants danced Kalamatiano and learned steps to Cypriot dances. The party ended with a reception and musical program. During the summer months the activities of IAESTE Cyprus include, among others, excursions all over Cyprus.
