Neapolis University Pafos held its 19th Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday 21 October 2026 at the Coral Beach Hotel & Resort. The ceremony was attended by Government Spokesman Mr Konstantinos Letymbiotis, along with representatives of the State, local authorities, the Church, government and semi-government organisations, members of the university community and the graduates’ families.
The ceremony marked the end of the academic journey for graduates of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, who now join the Neapolis University Pafos alumni community.
In his address, the President of the University Council, Mr George M. Leptos, spoke about the University’s 16 years of operation. In that time it has awarded around 11,500 degrees. It now has more than 3,500 students and offers 48 programmes of study. He referred to the University’s partnerships with the University of Reading and with Democritus University of Thrace on the joint Medicine programme, as well as its membership of the EMERGE European University Alliance. He also mentioned students’ results in the international IMC 2026 and IWLS competitions, and the inclusion of three of the University’s academics in the Stanford–Elsevier list of the top 2% of scientists worldwide. Finally, he noted that more than 90% of graduates are working in their field within three months of graduating.
Speaking on behalf of the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus, Government Spokesman Mr Konstantinos Letymbiotis congratulated the graduates and their families. He spoke about Neapolis University’s contribution to the development of Paphos and about creating opportunities for young people, so that they can stay in Cyprus, return to it and build their lives there. “Cyprus does not ask its young people to shrink their dreams to fit its capabilities. Our responsibility is to expand Cyprus’s capabilities so that your dreams can fit,” he said.
The Rector of Neapolis University Pafos, Professor Pantelis Sklias, congratulated the graduates. He said that the trust placed in the University by Greek public universities, the University of Reading and Chinese institutions also strengthens the soft power of the Republic of Cyprus. He stressed that academic adequacy, good order and integrity are the University’s core principles. He closed by saying that the University remains a common home for its graduates, and that their shared journey continues after their studies end.
During the ceremony, the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Professor Savvas Chatzichristofis, presented Diplomas of Academic Excellence to the top graduates of each programme. The awards were supported by organisations and businesses in Cyprus. The valedictory speech on behalf of the graduates was given by Sarah Ohanon, top graduate of the undergraduate programme in Accounting, Banking and Finance.
Neapolis University Pafos congratulates all its graduates and wishes them every success in their personal and professional lives. With the knowledge, skills and experience they have gained, they are called on to contribute to society and to represent the University in Cyprus and abroad.
