2nd Meeting of Students and Graduates of the MA in History of Neapolis University

The “2nd Meeting of Students and Graduates of the MA Programmes in History of Neapolis University in Cyprus” was held on Saturday 30 June 2018. Meetings of this kind have been established in order to bring students, graduates, as well as the general public in touch with renowned scholars and with the up-to-date trends in historic research. In the 1st Meeting that was held in June 2017 keynote speaker was the distinguished historian Ioannis Hassiotis, Emeritus Professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In this year’s Meeting, keynote speakers were Panagiotis Kimourtzis, Professor at the University of the Aegean, and Angelos Syrigos, Associate Professor at Panteion University. Professor Kimourtzis presented the way national and public holidays were established during the first years after the foundation of the independent Greek state. Professor Syrigos referred to the historical development of Greek foreign policy, as well as the current developments, with emphasis on the Cyprus question and Greek-Turkish relations. The Meeting was closed with questions posed to the speakers by the audience.
