The Arquetopia Synergy Award 2015 is a scholarship award that Marina Yerali-Christodoulou has received from a non-profit Foundation in Mexico promoting development, social transformation and productivity through artistic, cultural, and educational programs.
The Arquetopia Synergy Award 2015 recognizes outstanding art practices via social scope and synergy, collaboration and innovation, viability and respect for local knowledge. An international jury was invited to review more than 200 cultural projects of past international artists-in-residence over the five year’s of the Foundation’s history, assessing each residency project’s contribution to a more nuanced perspective and understanding of Mexican complex history and culture. Considering the scope reflected in the theme and technique of each project, the jury unanimously selected 5 awardees for The Arquetopia Synergy Award 2015.
Ms. Yerali-Christodoulou research project explored the communication structure of the Mesoamerican codex (pre-Hispanic Mexican books) in relation to colonialism and the traditions of indigenous Mesoamerican writing in cross-cultural adaptations within the history of book. The scholarship will grant the awardee to continue the research project and to promote cultural sensitivity and awareness through intercultural communication and contemporary art practices.
