Neapolis University in Cyprus, committed in its willingness to contribute to the development of the local community, and the Municipality of Geroskipou, the second largest municipality of the Pafos District with its long historical, cultural, social and folklore tradition, formalized their cooperation through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement, during a meeting of the two parties on Thursday, February 6th, 2020 at the Geroskipou City Hall. The Agreement was signed by Mr. Michael Pavlidis, Mayor of Geroskipou and Prof. Pantelis Sklias, Rector of Neapolis University in Cyprus.
During the meeting, the challenges of Local Government and the competitive entrepreneurial environment were discussed and both sides emphasized the need for the university community to collaborate with local authorities, as a carrier of applied knowledge, scientific innovation and culture, targeting sustainable progress and social cohesion.
The cooperation of the two parties is firstly mentioned in the participation of the Municipality of Geroskipou in the wide collaborations network of organizations and companies of the European project “Liaison Offices with the Labor Market“, implemented by Neapolis University for the purpose of students’ placement in the labor market.
It also foresees, enhances and promotes actions and synergies that will simultaneously highlight the cultural, social and economic activism of the local community of Geroskipou in relevance and support to the academic, research and cultural work implemented at Neapolis University in Cyprus.
