Neapolis University Pafos Ranked 16th Worldwide at IMC 2026

Highest-Ranked University from Greece and Cyprus at the International Mathematics Competition for University Students

Neapolis University Pafos ranked 16th in the worldwide university standings at the International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC) 2026. The university rankings were based on the performance of participating students, with Neapolis University Pafos achieving the highest position among universities from Greece and Cyprus.

The significance of this result is further highlighted by the composition of the rankings, with Neapolis University Pafos finishing ahead of universities such as ETH Zurich, University College London (UCL), Technical University of Munich (TUM), University of British Columbia (UBC), and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

This year’s competition took place in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria with 447 students representing 136 universities from around the world.

The University’s performance is part of a consistent record at the IMC in recent years. The NUPBrains team ranked 22nd in 2023, 15th in 2024, and 10th in 2025, before placing 16th in this year’s competition. This was the fourth consecutive year that Neapolis University Pafos participated in the competition, with the support and guidance of academics and collaborators involved in the students’ preparation.

Participation in the IMC forms part of the University’s broader academic activity in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and mathematics. Through participation in international competitions, the University supports students in applying the knowledge acquired through their studies and assessing their skills in an international academic environment.
