Neapolis University Pafos ranks among the top three in innovation in Cyprus and records a strong rise in research in the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2026

Neapolis University Pafos has recorded a notable rise in the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2026, confirming its steady progress in research performance, innovation output, international visibility, and societal impact.

According to the published results, the University advanced by 1,082 positions globally compared to 2025, reflecting measurable improvement across key performance indicators.

A clear increase is observed in the Research dimension, where the University improved by 301 positions. This metric carries a 50% weight in the overall SCImago evaluation and reflects research volume, citation impact, and scientific quality.

In the Innovation dimension, Neapolis University Pafos ranks 3rd in Cyprus, demonstrating consistent focus on linking research with applied academic activity and entrepreneurship.

The Rector of the University, Professor Pantelis Sklias, stated:

“The overall improvement across all indicators reflects a structured and consistent effort. As a relatively young university, with just 15 years of operation, Neapolis University Pafos continues to strengthen its presence both nationally and internationally. We invest in research, international collaborations, and the quality of our study programmes. These results confirm that our strategy delivers measurable outcomes and creates strong prospects for the coming years. This progress is supported by key initiatives such as our participation as a full member of the European University Alliance EMERGE and the establishment of the joint undergraduate English-taught Medical Programme with Democritus University of Thrace.”

The Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Professor Savvas Chatzichristofis, added:

“The improvement in the research indicator and our position in innovation are the result of systematic work. We have increased research output and strengthened the international impact of our academic publications. Our priority is to further connect research with the economy and society through measurable results.”
