November 27, 2017

Presentation at the 11th Conference of University Network of the European Capitals of Culture (UNeECC): “RE-VALUE – Rethinking the value of arts and culture”.

Ms. Evanthia Dova, Lecturer of Architecture, participated in the Conference “RE-Value – rethinking the value of arts and culture” organized by the University Network of the European Capitals of Culture (UNeECC) and Aarhus 2017 (Aarhus as European Capital of Culture), and hosted by Aarhus University on 8-11 November 2017. The conference brought together academics and researchers, members of the UNeECC, in order to develop the dialogue regarding the monitoring and assessment of cultural events as tools for social transformation.

Ms. Dova presented the paper “Reshaping Pafos: people, culture, urban spaces and governance as changing agents”, written in collaboration with Angeliki Sivitanidou, Lecturer in Architecture, and Dr. Julia Georgi, Ass. Professor, Neapolis University. The paper examines the socio-spatial impacts of Pafos 2017 (Pafos as European Capital of Culture, that is, the city’s current transformation, the interplay among the forces that have instigated it and the potential for long-lasting change as part of its ECoC legacy. A constructive discussion followed the presentation.

Neapolis University in Cyprus hosted the UNeECC Board Meeting earlier this year (3rd Feb. 2017), and has already established working collaborations with members of the Network.
