Recognition of the BSc in Civil Engineering of Neapolis University by the Technical Chamber of Cyprus (ETEK)

July 17, 2018

The Department of Engineering of the School of Architecture, Engineering, Land and Environmental Sciences of Neapolis University in Cyprus, announces that the newly established BSc in Civil Engineering Program has been officially recognized by the Technical Chamber of Cyprus (ETEK) and has been posted to the relevant catalog on its website.

The BSc in Civil Engineering of Neapolis University in Cyprus is a full time four-year program, structured in eight semesters of study. It reflects the desire of the Institution to develop interdisciplinary courses and exploit gracefully the existing know how. The program complements the existing ones of the School and helps build its research capability by attracting academics with a long experience in teaching, research and professional application.

The educational philosophy of the program can best be understood in light of the general mission of Neapolis University, which is the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research, and service to the community. Specifically:

  • It is a very well balanced, very well organized, very sustainable, very flexible and highly scientific program.
  • It offers a variety of civil engineering courses and covers a wide range in the field.
  • It is capable of covering the needs of local society as well as those of the wider Southeastern Mediterranean area.

The program maintains its own character, despite the fact that its structure has taken into account the following:

  • The coordination with the academic and technological requirements of the country, as specified in the respective Civil Engineering programs of the Public Universities.
  • The strong theoretical background of the respective programs of the Greek Universities, implementing it without exceeding the proper number of courses.
  • The high research and practical capabilities offered by the respective British University programs.
  • The professional requirements set by the Technical Chamber of Cyprus.
  • The particularities and actual needs of the local construction industry.

All  the above along with the excellent Technological Infrastructure and the modern Engineering Laboratories provided by the School, are fully expressed and justified by the recent recognition of the BSc in Civil Engineering Program by the Technical Chamber of Cyprus.
