Second Graduation Ceremony of Neapolis University Pafos

The second graduation ceremony of Neapolis University Pafos took place on Friday, 19th September 2014, at Coral Beach Hotel, in Pafos. The event was a great success and of particular importance, as Neapolis University awarded the degrees to the first undergraduates of the University.
The overall number of graduates came up to 334.
The President of the University Council, Mr Michael Leptos ( Leptos Estates ), after congratulating the graduates for their achievement, wished them all the best for the future. He also thanked all those who attended the graduation ceremony, because they showed their interest in and support to the multidimensional role of the University. Mr Leptos concluded by pointing out that, despite the difficult times that we experience, we are here to fight for a rapid progress in Education and Culture. He also declared that the University intends to launch new Programs of Study in various areas, such as Tourism and Hotel Management, Nutrition and Dietetics, Information Technology and Sport Sciences.
Furthermore, the Rector of Neapolis University, Professor Spyros Makridakis, addressed the graduates and pointed out that the technological evolution has greatly affected our lives, our profession, as well as leisure – see, for example, the invention of self-driving cars, robots, and the smart computers possessing a kind of human intelligence. The Rector presented the great future challenges that universities face nowadays, which relate to the students’ education, so that the students will be able later on to work and coordinate successfully in a world where innovation and entrepreneurship are the main factors which contribute to and secure a successful career as well as balanced life.
Mr Andreas Papoulas, too, on behalf of the Minister of Education and Culture, Mr Costas Kadis, read out his address to the graduates.
The Graduation ceremony was also attended by his Beatitude Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II, the Bishop of Pafos Georgios, the President of the Parliamentary Committee for Education, Mr Georgios Tasou, by MPs, the Mayor of Pafos, Mr Savvas Vergas, the Mayor of Peyeia, Mr Neofytos Akoursiotis and other officials.
