Τhe Law School of Neapolis University Paphos successfully organized “The Titina Loizidou against Turkey Case and its Contemporary Significance’’ event, which took place on Wednesday 20th of March 2019.
The former Chairman of the House of Representatives Mr. Giannakis Omirou, the District Officer of Paphos Mrs. Mairi Lambrou, students, academics, lawyers, and representatives from a large number of sectors and organizations attended the event.
Mrs Loizidou analyzed in detail, at her speech, «the human behind the legal decision» the chronicle of her case explaining the actions she took in order to secure the hearing under the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights.
Mr. Dimitriadis, the lawyer of Mrs. Loizidou, began his speech about how he met Mrs. Loizidou, pointing out that he was highly motivated to win the case, mainly due to the trust Mrs. Loizidou had showed him even though being a young lawyer.
Dr. Thomas Nektarios Papanastasiou, assistant Professor of the Faculty of Law addressed the opening speech and coordinated the event. Dr. Papanastasiou highlighted the today’s significance of the Case. Finally, Mr. Michalakis Leptos, President of the Board of Neapolis University and Professor Antonis Manitakis, Dean of the Faculty of Law addressed the event with their welcoming speeches.
