The Department of Information Sciences, invites interested parties to undertake doctoral studies for the academic year 2016-17.

The Department of Information Sciences invites interested parties to undertake joint PhD degrees with co-supervision with the University of Peloponnese, Greece.

Research proposals need to be focused on the following research areas:

  • e-Government
  • Data Security, including the area of Cryptography
  • Project Management in Information Technology
  • Data Science:
    • Big Data Analytics
    • Linked Open Data
    • Data Mining
  • Recommender Systems
  • Intelligent Systems, including Affective Computing
  • Computer Architecture
  • Cloud or Grid Computing

The department will consider applications from candidates that strictly meet the following criteria:

  • Gradates from the field of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Computer, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised University according to the Council of Recognition of Higher Education, Cyprus (KYSATS) or from the Hellenic National Academic Recognition Information Center (NARIC)

Candidates need to hold both an undergraduate degree (final grade of at least 6.5 or equivalent) and a postgraduate degree. Successful candidates will be called for an interview; where they are expected to discuss their research interest/area. The final selection for joining the PhD Programme, along with the allocation of supervisor, will be made on the basis of this interview.
