Book Presentation “The Future of Energy and Environment” in Neapolis University in Cyprus

Neapolis University in Cyprus, Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Publication House Germanos organized with great success the presentation of the book “The Future of Energy and Environment” of Michael Economides, Panagiotis Dalamarini, Phil Ray and Leonard Kalfayan, on November 26, 2013 at the premises of the University in Cyprus. The event was greeted by George Leptos, Paphos Chamber President, Prof. Diomedes Markoulis on behalf of Neapolis University in Cyprus and Andreas Germanos, of the Publication House Germanos. As mentioned, the book “The Future of Energy and Environment” is a thorough analysis of the energy present and future and the impact on the environment. The coverage of the issue is international and balanced, offering a comprehensive approach between the growing need for energy and wealth creation, while at the same time indicating the needs to pay attention to the environment and to avoid the possibility of environmental disasters. This was stated by Solon Kassinis, President of the Education Faculty and Research Centre for Energy in UCLan Cyprus, Prof. Panos Papanastasiou, Dean of Engineering at the University of Cyprus and by Prof. Michael Economides, of the University of Houston and Managing Partner of the Consulting oil company and Editor of Energy Tribune. It was also noted in particular that the book takes the view that oil and gas will continue to dominate the global energy scene for decades, covering periods throughout the twenty-first century. The book describes these resources in depth and presents the latest technology on their exploitation and the need for environmental awareness. Alongside the presented data in the book allow the reader to develop an objective view and consider how the production – of the cleaner for nature – gas, has to play a much greater role in meeting the future needs. Moderator of the event was Dr. Spyros Vliamos, Professor at the National Kapodistriako University of Athens and Neapolis University in Cyprus.
