Connecting Programmes of Neapolis University with the Labour Market

April 16, 2019

On Wednesday, 3rd April 2019, a meeting took place at Neapolis University in Cyprus, between the students from the School of Architecture, Engineering and Land and Environmental Sciences who participated in the programme for placement in business organizations (architectural offices, technical offices and interior decoration offices), the Rector of Neapolis University Professor Pantelis Sklias, the Dean of the School Professor Solon Xenopoulos, the Academic Positioning Officer Assistant Professor Diotima Papadi, and officials of the Liaison Office Ms. Mina Bakavelou and Mr. Makis Tryfonos.

The students briefed the Rector of the University on the experience they gained from their placement, and shared their experience of 13 weeks while also expressing their satisfaction from this important dimension of their student experience.

The Dean of the School Professor Solon Xenopoulos highlighted the fact that the academic knowledge that the students received during their studies, was flawlessly and immediately adapted to the demands of the specific working environment. At the same time the students expressed similar positive views and underlined that the curriculum of the School of Architecture, Engineering and Land and Environmental Sciences is fully in sync with the requirements and needs of the labour market, a fact which is proven in practice, by the direct absorption of part of the participating students in Architectural offices.

Understanding the students’ anxiety for their successful integration in the labour market, Neapolis University in Cyprus has set up a wide network of collaborations and synergies with social partners, business organizations, and State and Local Government Institutions, in order to support its students and graduates in their successful entry and advancement in the labour market with compensatory benefits for themselves, their families, the local communities but also the national economies of Cyprus and their countries of origin.
