Fifth Landscape Architecture Workshop, Halki , Constantinople, April 26th – May 1st 2018

In September of 2013, Neapolis University in Cyprus delivered the renewed Landscape design for the garden of The Halki Seminary (the former Theological School of Halki). The occasion, permeating with meaning and significance, sparked celebrations both at the Seminary and the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople.

The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew praised the significance of the work, expressing his gratitude personally to Mr. Michalakis Leptos, President of Neapolis University, the University itself, and also to the entire effort’s author, the Metropolitan of Bursa, Abbot of the Holy Trinity Monastery in Halki and Professor of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, his Holiness Elpidoforos.

Following an invitation by Metropolitan Elpidoforo, a workshop on the “Implementation of Landscape Design and Agronomic Application” conducted by Nikos Thymakis was held between the 26th of April and the 1st of May, 2018 at the Halki Seminary by the Graduate School of Landscape Architecture School of Neapolis University.

Leading the workshop was the head of the landscape renewal project, Dr. Julia Georgi, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Architecture, Land and Environmental Science at Neapolis University. Visiting Professor Cristina Musacchio coparticipated in the workshop along with the students Eleftherios Vombolakis, Nikos Samourianidis and Yiannis Petratos.

The workshop ended successfully, infused throughout with an exchange of thoughts and proposals between Archbishop Elpidoforos and its participants.

Visiting the Halki Seminary on the 1st of May, 2018, His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch, Bartholomew, met, congratulated and blessed the members of the workshop and once again reiterated his thanks to the University of Neapolis for its significant contribution.
