Neapolis University Pafos (NUP) has been admitted as a full member of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Network “Human Rights and Governance: the Rights, Individuals and Communities Faced with the New Challenges of a Globalized World in Crisis.”
This membership strengthens the University’s international academic footprint and confirms its sustained investment in research, education, and policy dialogue on human rights and governance. The participation is anchored in the work of the UNESCO Chair hosted at NUP.
UNESCO currently approves approximately 50 specialised thematic UNITWIN networks worldwide. Inclusion in this framework reflects institutional credibility, long-term academic engagement, and contribution to global knowledge cooperation.
The Network is coordinated by the UNESCO Chair at Universidad Externado de Colombia and includes UNESCO Chairs from leading universities, including Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Universidade Federal da Paraíba (Brazil), Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (Brazil), Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain), Université Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense (France), Università di Camerino (Italy).
Through this participation, NUP will contribute to Joint research initiatives, particularly between Europe and Latin America, international policy dialogue on human rights governance and global challenges; joint teaching initiatives, academic publications, and scientific events; and interdisciplinary exchange on global security, governance, and societal resilience.
This development aligns with Neapolis University Pafos’ broader strategy of internationalisation, research excellence, and active engagement in global academic networks. Through its UNESCO Chair, the Department of History, Politics and International Studies, as well as the Observatory of Human Rights, the University looks forward to contributing actively to the Network’s work, fostering impactful collaborations, advancing knowledge and policy innovation, and building synergies with other flagship initiatives, including the EMERGE European University Alliance.
