On Wednesday 22nd January, the Rector of Neapolis University in Cyprus, Prof. Pantelis Sklias attended and welcomed an important and timely event-discussion titled “Brexit – The next day” at Impact HUB Athens.
The event was co-organized by the Centre for International & European Political Economy & Governance (KEDEPOD), the research centre of the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of Peloponnese and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Prof. Sklias briefly referred to the history of the UK withdrawal process, the political, social and economic parameters that led the British people to this decision and the efforts from both sides to reach a smooth withdrawal process, in order to reduce any negative consequences of Brexit.
The round table was co-ordinated by Ms. Domina Diamantopoulou, Journalist of Athens 984 Radio.
The distinguished speakers Mr. Dimitris Kairidis, Professor of Panteion University, ND MP of the Athens Electoral district B1, Manos Papazoglou, Assistant Professor of the University of Peloponnese, Sofia Halas, A’ Legal Adviser of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Isaak Karipidis, Journalist, ANT1 correspondent, Real FM in London (online), stated their positions and commented on the different aspects of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU, as well as any possible and unseen effects on a national, European and global level of the agreed withdrawal process of a member state of the European Union.
