The popular Robotex robotics competition returns!

After a two-year absence from robotic events due to the pandemic, the Cyprus Computer Society announces that the 4th Pancyprian Robotics Robotics Competition will take place in October 2021 at Agios Ioannis Chrysostomos High School in Nicosia. Specifically, if the epidemiological conditions allow it, the popular challenges Line Following & SUMO will be organized on the weekend of October 16 and 17 and the Exhibition of Educational Robotics  on the weekend of October 23 and 24.

The Pancyprian Robotex competition is addressed to pupils, students and adults and participation is free. The winning teams will be able to participate in the next Robotex International, from which pre-pandemic, the winners returned back to Cyprus with plenty awards in their luggage! Interested teams are invited to build robots with the help of a coach-trainer, in order to compete in the four challenge categories of the competition, using the robotic platforms Engino, Lego, Edison, Arduino.

With the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus’ Youth Board as co-organizers, , Robotex Cyprus 2021 will be a different event, adapted to the new era, that maintains the same passion and aim for the development of educational robotics in Cyprus.

The event will be organized under the auspices of H.E the President of the Republic of Cyprus Mr Nicos Anastasiades and has been approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth and the Digital Champion, under the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy.

The Robotex Cyprus 2021 takes place in collaboration with Cyta which is the longtime strategic partner of CCS and the company XM which is the technology partner. Bank of Cyprus also participates as Youth Supporter, EKO as platinum sponsor, Research and Innovation Foundation and Neapolis University as gold sponsors and other companies as sponsors. The competition is supported by organizations as well as all the private universities.

As stated by the Secretary of the Board of CCS and Chairman of the Robotex Cyprus Organizing Committee Mr. Panicos Masouras, “All these organizations and hundreds of volunteers were on our side when we tried to re-organize the competition in 2020 but it was postponed because the covid-19 cases had increased and stricter measures were taken. We hope that this time, the epidemiological conditions will allow us to create another innovative robotic experience! ”
