On Wednesday 29/4 the Law School of the Neapolis University in Cyprus in cooperation with the European Erasmus program organized a conference on issues of international law, with guest speakers such as the Rector of Panteion University Professor. Gr. Tsalta and Deputy Rector of Panteion University Professor. Mr. Perraki.
Mr. Tsaltas spoke about “Marine Law Implementation in the Eastern Mediterranean and natural resources” and stressed both the importance of the delimitation of the Cypriot EEZ and secondly the promotion of collaborations by the Republic of Cyprus with Greece, Egypt and Israel for the best possible protection of its energy interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Mr. Perrakis spoke on “Migratory Flows and Human Security in the Mediterranean, Challenges and Prospects”, highlighting the urgent need for efficient handling of migratory flows to the countries of southern Europe, especially in Greece. Professor Perrakis argued that immigrant integration policy in the European area appears deficit, without targeting and does not really help to tackle the phenomenon of the national societies and the EU and suggested that a new EU authentic policy in the light of the diversity of priorities, with a revision of Dublin II and EU intervention on the causes of the problem, ie the end of the armed conflict, the restoration of democratic structures and economic development of countries of origin.
The event was welcomed by Prof. Antonis Manitakis, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of the Neapolis University in Cyprus.
