Establishment of a Special Department of Bibliographic Support for Academic Research Activities of Japanese Culture

On Tuesday 20.10.2020, at 11:00, an official book donation ceremony was held at the premises of Neapolis University in Cyprus for the University’s library by the renowned Nippon Foundation, as part of the programme READ JAPAN PROJECT, which aims to promote the study and better understanding of Japanese culture around the world.

The ceremony was attended by Mrs. Seki Izumi, Ambassador of Japan in the Republic of Cyprus, along with Mr. Sone Eiichi, the First Secretary of the Embassy, and on behalf of the University the Rectoral and Administrative authorities.

The event was presented by Assistant Professor of Law Thomas-Nektarios Papanastasiou, who as a scholarship holder from the Japanese Government, is the link between the University’s academic community and the Embassy of Japan in Cyprus.

The event was addressed by the Ambassador of Japan and the Rector of Neapolis University in Cyprus, who characterised the Ambassador’s presence as an honour for the University, which marks the creation of a special department of bibliographic support with academic material from Japan, so that students from all over Cyprus, who are interested in studying Japanese culture, economic and political relations, the social structure and organisation of Japanese society, to be able to access and use this important bibliographic material.
