The School of Law, Neapolis University in Cyprus, participated for the first time in ELSA Cyprus National Moot Court Competition, on May, 10th 2016 in Nicosia. The University was represented by two teams, composed of Zoe Valari, Maria Kefala-Karli and Nikos Stergiou as well as Athanasios Athanasiou and Epaminondas Ladopoulos, and coached by Dr. Nikolaos Zaprianos and Dr. Stefanos Karameros respectively.
The first team was placed first between all participants, has been promoted to the final round, which will take place at the Supreme Court of Cyprus on May, 17th 2016, and has also won the best written memorial price.
During the first competition phase participants submit their written pleadings either on behalf of the applicant or on behalf of the defendant. In the oral proceedings that follow students present their main arguments before the moot court judges, who question them on any point of the case.
The participating Neapolis University students had gained valuable experience in preparing and arguing a real case, while studying the most recent civil and civil procedure case-law.
