On Friday, June 5th 2015, World Day for the Environment, Neapolis University in Cyprus was awarded the Cypriot Environmental Award for its contribution to Environmental Actions during the five years of its operation mainly organized by the Master of Landscape Architecture Programme. The award was received by Dr. Julia Georgi, Assoc. Professor and Chairman of the Department of Architecture, Land and Environmental Sciences accompanied by students of the Master of Landscape Architecture Programme. The event was also attended by Dr. Andreas Masouras, Lecturer, Neapolis Univeristy in Cyprus.
Specific mention was made in the following actions: Restoration of the Gardens of the Theological School of Chalki, presented at the 2nd Biennale of Italy, award at the International Design Competition of UIA 2014, landscape design proposal for the surroundings of the Archaeological Museum of Paphos, participation at the Biennale Spazio Publicco 2015 in Rome, organization of International Conferences, Meetings, Lectures on Environment and Landscape Architecture in Cyprus and abroad.
The event was welcomed by the President of the House of Representatives Mr. Yiannakis Omirou, the Minister of Education and Culture Mr. Costas Kadis,the President of the Green Ecological Party, Mr. George Perdikis and the Environment Commissioner Mrs. Ioanna Panayiotou.
