Neapolis University celebrated its 6th graduation ceremony

Neapolis University in Cyprus celebrated the accomplishments of its 533 graduates in a majestic ceremony which was held in the Akamas room of the Coral Beach Hotel & Resort in Pafos. The graduates shared the culmination of their hard work in front of an audience of 1,000 and more family members, friends, academics, and VIP guests from Cyprus and abroad.

In his annual speech, the President of the University’s Board, Mr Michalakis Leptos, congratulated the graduates for their recent academic success and relayed his best wishes for their professional success to come. The President renewed the University’s commitment to investing in high-quality education and career readiness of its graduates and congratulated the University’s relentless contribution and impact to social and cultural institutions and happenings. Closing, the President expressed his satisfaction with the University’s newly established cooperation with renowned academic institutions such as Middlesex University London and the University of Hull.

The “Distinction” awards given to high-achieving graduates were presented by the President of the House of Representatives Mr Demetris Syllouris, who in turn congratulated them for reaching a “decisive” moment in their lives. “Beyond knowledge acquisition, your foremost duty is to preserve your integrity and character and never settle with unfairness”, Mr Syllouris stressed while addressing the graduates.

In a short speech, the Deputy Rector of Administrative Affairs of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Professor Napoleon Maravegias, applauded the University’s rapid growth and the quality of its academic programs.

Dr Konstantinos Spyrakos, a professor of Civil Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), addressed the audience in his capacity as a parent – having proudly watched his son receiving his diploma in Architecture from the University’s School of Engineering. The professor described, the criteria he used for selecting Neapolis for their son’s education, a choice that not only proved to be excellent but also surpassed their expectations.

In the ceremony’s commencement speech, the University’s new Rector, Professor Pantelis Sklias, explained the University’s foundational pillars for achieving its strategic objectives of accessible excellence, academic plenitude, and social sensibility. Research, creation of new knowledge, connections with the industry and employment, pioneering academic programs, corporate and social responsibility, and a strong alumni society are among the University’s top investment priorities. “In an environment filled with new perspectives and challenges, it is our mandate and commitment, to foster the necessary conditions for our students and graduates to exploit all opportunities in sight”, professor Sklias emphasized.

Distinguished guests included the Holy Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II, the Attorney General Mr Costas Clerides – who awarded degrees to the graduates of the Law School, the former speaker of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom Baroness Betty Boothroyd, Members of the House of Representatives, and Members of the Municipality’s Council.

Finally, Neapolis University in Cyprus congratulates all graduating students on their accomplishments and expresses its gratitude to all students, family members, friends, and distinguished guests for their massive turnout at the graduation ceremony.
